"I doubled my income and May helped me transition
into the new management role."
"I loved my coaching sessions with May! May was a breath of fresh air. Fearless in saying the things that needed to be said, super professional, unphased, positive, and super intelligent. In coaching, I learned that instead of getting frustrated, it’s much easier to be productive (i.e. chanelling energies towards something that is positive.)
I started coaching when I was working at a dead-end, low-paying job, and knowing that I wanted to make a better life for myself. With May, I was able to pin down a career path and a plan that I was happy with. May helped me identify goals (that I knew deep inside) but allowed me to speak them out loud, and in my own time make them a reality. I also doubled my income more or less by accepting a new position and May helped me transition into the new management role. She was very supportive by speaking the truth about what we are obligated to be and work, and I've come to realize I really just need to be myself. And up the weird.
I would absolutely recommend May for coaching, or for anything for that matter. She cultivated a safe space for me to explore what I really wanted to do. She gave me permission to acknowledge the things that I like, and made me feel comfortable in ignoring outside pressures that have always made things way more complex or confusing than they needed to be."

"An increased sense of self validation about my unique approaches [as I] transition into my new career"
May is very skilled and helped me to find my own answers to certain big questions while also sharing keen insight about some areas of my life I was struggling to have a clear perspective on.
My work [in early childcare] was starting to take a serious toll on me mentally and physically. I knew I wanted to be in a field of work I had a stronger personal connection to and that would allow me to work from home and with a flexible schedule, but I felt unsure that I would actually be able to pull off the transition. I felt a comfortable rapport with May, safe enough to share vulnerable truths, and also supported enough to rise to challenging tasks with enthusiasm -- with the added bonus of being able to express my quirks and share humor throughout our meetings. One of the biggest things has been a carryover into my daily life of the creative problem-solving mindset I adopted in our sessions thanks to the powerful questions and encouragement May offered. Another highly valuable result has been an increased sense of self validation about my own unique approaches to taking the necessary steps to transition into my new career. I have had to use these skills regularly, since with May’s help, I left my previous job in early-childhood care, and became an ADD coach. |

"I'm beginning a new and exciting career
that I [used to think] was never possible"

Before working with May, I felt anxious and stuck at my job. There was nowhere to advance to in the organizations where I was working, and I knew I was capable of more, but didn't know how to get there or what I should do. May did exercises with me that helped me to confront the parts of myself that were weighing me down. I didn't realize that I was actively preventing myself from advancing professionally under the guise of self-protection.
May helped me realize that I want to go back to school, but was holding back because of my fear of rejection. Fast forward to today: I am starting my Ph.D. at an Ivy League school that was my top choice. I am living proof of May's magic!
I highly recommend May to anyone who is struggling to take that next step in their career. May helped me move through the fears that were holding me back and now I'm beginning a new and exciting career that I thought was never possible because I thought I wasn't "good enough" to get into an advanced degree program.

Finally, a way of building my career "that sustains me
instead of burns me out"
I decided to work with May after feeling lots of ups and downs in my work life. When I got a “win” at work, I would feel on top of the world, but if something didn't go my way, I often felt crushed and burnt out. I was trying to do “all the things” instead of focusing on what really mattered to move my career forward.
Coaching with May was so fun and so easy. I always felt inspired and celebrated and walked away feeling TEN MILLION TIMES better than I felt when I started the session! In working together, May helped me find my creative voice, trust it, and nurture it and finally create a [career] lifestyle that sustains me instead of burns me out! This is a big deal for me, as I’d been dealing with burnout and exhaustion even while gaining more material success and acclaim in my industry. The coaching made all the difference in my transition to a new level of success in my career and I can't wait to work with May again! |

Asking "the bigger, broader questions
about [my career] and job that I was afraid to ask"
"I started a new job and was concerned about whether it was the right fit for my skills. I was overwhelmed by the responsibilities of the position, and questioned both accepting the role, and my decision to make a career pivot.
I needed an outside perspective on my situation and hired May for coaching. There was a conflict between my hope that the sessions would help me stay in my role, and the reality that as the sessions progressed, I realized the role was not the right fit. I wanted to formulate a quick plan, but instead I had to think deeply and slowly about my career goals, and about the work environments that would nurture me and my learning and working styles. It was worth it. I recommend May’s coaching especially for people who may need to ask some of the bigger, broader questions about their career and job that I was afraid to ask, but am ultimately glad I did." |
Shira Lang, Administrative Coordinator --> Account Manager in Tech
"I'm finally exactly where I wanted to be in my career"
"Before hiring May as my coach, I worked as an administrative coordinator at a tech company. I was working in my dream industry, but I wasn’t being challenged in my role and felt incredibly frustrated. The admin job was meant to get me by while I built up a tech portfolio and finally got the experience I needed to get hired in a “real tech job” after that. But it felt like it was going to take years and years.
I felt like my career was stalled because of my employers, because they didn't understand my talents. But May helped me to realize that I needed to take ownership of my dissatisfaction with my career. She didn’t sugar coat anything, and helped me to really focus on what I wanted in my career, and create a step by step plan to make it happen. After every call with May, my dream career – which had seemed like a pipe dream – felt more and more achievable. I decided not to wait – I quit the admin job that wasn't working for me and focused all my energy on the tech jobs I’d always wanted while building my portfolio and networking at the same time. Now I’m an Account Manager at a tech company! I’m so happy that I’m finally exactly where I wanted to be in my career, instead of staying on a career path that didn't make me happy." |

"More purposeful about what I want to do next"
I decided to work with May when I was very frustrated at my current job, and I was also a bit lost as to where to go next to fix this. We explored what interests me and what I may have talent for. In my exploration, May guided me to take the time to learn what I really enjoy. She also helped me get assertive about things I don’t enjoy without over-explaining myself or having to “convince” people to respect my boundaries and preferences. This saved me a lot of time and energy. I learned that I need a job with good boundaries, support, and opportunities for advancement, and that it’s okay not to compromise on that. With May’s help, I made some changes in how I relate to my current job, and ended up feeling more content with staying there for now, but also feel less all-over-the-place and more purposeful about what I want to do next. I have gotten to explore some different opportunities without being in “panic mode.” I’m now building relationships with schools (as in my exploration, I discovered I loved the taste of school nursing), building more relationships in the community in general, and exploring grad school. I’m focused on the big picture of my career goals, and am unwilling to compromise on my values or satisfaction. It feels good to no longer feel frequent panic and anger about my career -- but instead feel purposeful and motivated. I recommend May’s coaching to anyone who wants to feel the same. |

"Excited to take the next step in my career"
"I had found myself stuck in a high paying role that no longer felt very satisfying and I really wanted to transition to more fulfilling work. That’s why I came to work with May. She really helped me to see that it’s totally possible to create you own rules for life. She’s courageous, fun and heartfelt, but the best part is, she is actually speaking from her own experience. She’s been there and done that so she can confidently lead by her own example. Now I can see the opportunities that exist all around me and I’m excited to take the next step in my career."
